YMCA of San Diego County, Youth and Family Services (YFS) provides direct service and support to over 15,000 individuals in the San Diego County community each year. Since 1970, we have consistently provided unique programming that addresses San Diego’s most pressing social issues and adapts to its ever-changing communal needs. Our supports include providing welcoming environments for youth experiencing homelessness, relational skill-building, leadership opportunities, and support for self-sufficiency.
Founded in 1965, Fresno EOC has spent over five decades investing in people, helping them become self-sufficient. The scope of service provided by our Agency consists of almost all facets of human services and economic development. They range from preschool education to vocational training; from youth recreation to senior citizen hot meal services; from energy conservation education to crisis intervention; from preventive health care to prenatal nutrition education; and from vocational counseling to job placement services.
The San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center, Inc., (d.b.a., The Center) is one of the largest and most vibrant LGBT community centers in the nation. Functioning as the San Diego LGBT community’s anchor organization, The Center is led by a 10-member board of directors, employs more than 70 paid staff and utilizes more than 1,200 community volunteers to achieve its twin goals of promoting LGBT health/wellness and human rights. The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBT community, including men, women, youth, seniors, transgender and non-binary individuals, families, LGBT Latino community members and their families, and those living with HIV. Last year, The Center provided more than 87,300 direct service visits to San Diego community members, and through its events, activities and advocacy, touched the lives of thousands more.
Founded in 1972, Home Start, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit agency that provides services to children living in poverty who require immediate, comprehensive solutions to ensure their safety and healthy development. Guided by our mission to assure the safety and resiliency of children by strengthening families and their communities, Home Start serves those most in need. To effectively prevent and treat child abuse, we address the conditions that put children in risky or abusive situations such as poverty, unsafe neighborhoods, lack of affordable housing, and unemployment – while concurrently addressing individual self-sufficiency and emotional needs.
