Health at Every Size® is a social justice movement trying to bring change and awareness to weight stigma and fat phobia in our society. The basic components are celebrating body diversity, honoring differences and challenging assumptions about what health “should” be and “should” look like. About the speakers

Gabrielle Katz, LCSW, CEDS-S

Founder of Coastal Collaborative Care LLC

Gabby Katz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as a LCSW Supervisor and certified eating disorder specialist and approved supervisor (CEDS-S). Gabby graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Master of Social Work program. Gabby has worked in eating disorder higher level of care treatment centers - inpatient through intensive outpatient programs - since 2014. She started as a Clinical Therapist, moved to a Program Manager, and concluded her experience as the Center for Discovery, Alexandria Outpatient Program Director. Gabby now has her own private practice where she specializes in the treatment of eating disorders. On top of her work with eating disorders, Gabby was the former Board President of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, National Capital Area Chapter, and is a safeTALK trainer. Gabby's passion in the mental health field is being able to build awareness, educate, teach preventative efforts, and provide treatment for people with mental illnesses, specifically eating disorders and those struggling with suicidal ideation.

Kelsey West, MSW

Primary Therapist, Center for Discovery, Alexandria Outpatient

Kelsey is a Primary Therapist at Center for Discovery, Alexandria Outpatient where she provides family, individual and group therapy. Kelsey received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religion from Augustana College and her Master of Social Work from Loyola University in Chicago. Before Center for Discovery, Kelsey’s experience ranged from leading group and individual therapy with clients as they navigate substance abuse, the criminal justice system, and various mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, and suicidality. She also has extensive experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence.

Kelsey is dedicated to providing trauma informed care and understanding how experiences can impact an individual’s behaviors and identity. Kelsey has completed the Phase I Certification for the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, where Kelsey developed her passion for understanding trauma and behavior from a neuroscience perspective. Kelsey uses a combination of psychoeducation about neuroscience and mental health, DBT, CBT, and body acceptance ideas when working with clients.

Kate A Jarvi, LPC

Clinical Program Director at Rock Recovery

Kate is a licensed professional counselor who specializes in both individual and group therapy with adults and teens with eating disorders. Kate joined the Rock team in early 2019. She began her career working with college students and co-led the first eating disorder recovery group at Liberty University’s Student Counseling Services. Prior to joining Rock full-time, Kate worked at a treatment center in Northern Virginia. Kate is passionate about Rock Recovery’s program and mission to bring the opportunity for freedom and recovery from disordered eating to those who need it in the DC metro area. Kate is trained in providing DBT, CBT, ACT, RODBT, intuitive eating principles, and body acceptance skills which she implements regularly in her practice. She is experienced in building trust and rapport with clients and has a passion for providing faith-based counseling to individuals who desire this element in their healing journeys. In her free time, Kate enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, being outdoors, reading, and singing on the worship team and serving in other ways at her church.
