In this workshop we will focus on the importance of interpersonal relationships as a key to recovery. Our patients often have significant disruptions in their ability to foster healthy connections with family, friends, and the world around them as a result of insecure attachments and other early childhood traumas.   • Explain Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and how early childhood trauma upends the natural course of its crucial development.
  • Explain Attachment Theory and describe the role of early childhood trauma in development of destructive behaviors.
  • List and describe least two techniques they can do with their clients to help them increase their biological capacity to socially connect.
