Strategies for Misfits: An EMDR advanced workshop

The focus of this workshop is to expand participants' knowledge of Misfits within the Basic Six Part System with use of EMDR. Participants will learn a variety of strategies to utilize with their clients to decrease the dysregulation that Misfits can cause. These protocols will demonstrate how to increase stability and create a stronger sense of presence for the Authentic Self. 9:00-9:45am Importance of the Authentic Self in EMDR Processing 

  • In depth script for how to identify and install qualities within the Authentic Self

9:45-10:15am Protocol for the Rebirth of the Child Part

  • The purpose will be explored for re-raising your Child Part by use of case description and a script will be provided.

10:15-10:45am What is the Misfit hiding?

  • The relationship between the misfit and injurious aspect of the Parts will be explored using case examples.
  • Participants will be able to se their own case material for case conceptualization.

10:45-11:00am Break

11:00-11:45am The Zipper Protocol

  • A script will be provided using case material describing the process of unveiling an injurious Part (incorporating Robin Shapiro’s method)

11:45-12:00 Questions or specific Case conceptualization

12:00-12:30pm Lunch

12:30-2:00pm Orientating an injurious aspect to the Present.

  • The goal and purpose of Dual Awareness is explored when working with the symptomology of client.
  • Script will be provided of “sweeping aspect behind Authentic Self (Robin Shapiro)
  • Practicum will be offered of participant’s case material to demonstrate methodology.
  • 2:00-2:15pm Break

2:15-3:30pm Healing or expelling injurious aspects.

  • The purpose of expulsion will be discussed along with examples of injuries that can be destroyed.
  • Protocol of Expelling an injury will be explored through a script, case transcripts,
  • The healing ceremony will be demonstrated through a transcript.
  • Practicum will be offered of participants case material

3:30-4:00pm Questions

  • Participants will present a case and discussion led on the strategy that is best suited for presenting problem.
