Jim Pascoe is a passionate advocate for troubled youth and his experience in the behavioral health field spans 39 years. He began his career working direct care as a Psych Tech at a psychiatric and residential treatment center for adolescents. He fell in love with helping challenging kids and continued in the profession, eventually working as Acute Child / Adolescent Program Director, Compliance Director, Safety Officer, Risk Manager, Director of Performance Improvement, Director of Therapeutic Recreation, and Director of Experiential Therapy.
After fourteen years working in psych facilities, Jim progressed to working for hospital management corporations. He has grown his career in roles such as Director of Training, Corporate Clinical Director, Director of Clinical Training, and Milieu Development Specialist. Currently Jim is the Director of Residential Training and Development for Acadia Healthcare. He is thrilled to be implementing Residential Standards of Care with the goal of ensuring top-quality programming for the youth and staff experience.
Jim holds a BS degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a minor in Social Work, and an MBA in Healthcare Administration. He is also certified as a Master Level Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach®, National Master Instructor in Handle With Care Behavior Management System, and holds past certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and an Advanced Adventure Based Councilor (AABC).
Jim is an expert in de-escalation strategies and seclusion and restraint processes. He had the privilege of assisting the State of Tennessee as a member of the Department of Children’s Services Brian A. Settlement – Protection from Harm Seclusion/Restraint Workgroup, (2003). He also served as the Training Sub-Committee Chairperson of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services 2005 Private Provider Manual revision committee. Additionally, he has provided expertise on behavioral interventions to the City of Philadelphia Community Behavioral Health Associates and various other state agencies on issues related to client care.
Jim and his wife enjoy a very active lifestyle including camping, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and other outdoor related pursuits.

Situational De-escalation is a presentation for persons working in the field of behavioral health in a variety of settings.
