This course will give you an introductory understanding of the pelvic floor of vulva/vagina owners. Dr. Felicia Chaves PT, DPT will explain how pelvic floor therapy and related approaches can reduce pain with sexual activity. Felicia will offer an in-depth review of pelvic floor anatomy and physiology for basic pelvic floor function and understand how they impact sexual function. About the speaker

Dr. Felicia Chaves PT, DPT

Dr. Felicia Chaves was born and raised in southern New Mexico. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2015 with her doctorate of physical therapy. While in graduate school she did a specialized clinical rotation in pelvic health where she immediately knew that she had a passion for helping people with pelvic floor conditions. She has worked in a hospital based outpatient clinic and a private clinic in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, New Mexico serving pelvic health and orthopedic patients. In 2020 she founded NM Pelvic Health Physical Therapy to better provide a safe and relaxing environment for those seeking care for all pelvic floor conditions as she found that this was lacking in the previous clinics she had worked. She has training in pregnancy, postpartum, dry needling, pelvic health sexuality counseling trainings, sports and rehab, and extensive training in manual therapy techniques for all pelvic health and orthopedic conditions. She blends her orthopedic and pelvic health training to provide a more holistic approach to all of her patients, which is something that all her staff are also trained to do. When Dr. Chaves is not treating patients she is spending time with her husband, daughter, and son.
