Running the Matrimonial Gamut – A Trilogy of Couples in Conflict
This webinar will focus on three areas on the “marital spectrum”: 1. Couples in marriage/couple counseling in high conflict situations 2. Marital Crisis Consultation – (similar to discernment therapy, making tough decisions) 3.Divorce Mediation as best option when possible (a more constructive solution when a marriage has to end). This workshop will first look at marriages in the stage in which conflicts have developed but that the couple still wants to work on together in therapy. We will discuss EFT couple therapy as an example of how to more effectively do the work to try to help couples...Read more de-escalate. A vignette will be explored about a couple in crisis threatening to divorce one another and how EFT technique helped to dissipate an explosive juncture point. Marital Crisis Consultation: (similar to discernment therapy) is a model used to help couples in an acute crisis in which one or both are strongly considering separation/divorce but haven’t quite decided yet, i.e. they haven’t yet “pulled the trigger”. We will discuss consultations designed to help couples walk through different scenarios and ultimately gain more clarity as to which direction to pursue, i.e. couple counseling to work further on the marriage, explore a temporary separation, or go straight to a divorce.
