EMDR Therapy Training: Part I (Buffalo, NY)

Date: June 12 - 14, 2020
Place: Center for Clarity, 1412 Sweet Home Road, Suite 10, Amherst, NY, 14228

This EMDR training cycle is directed by Dr. Jamie with a specific focus of offering support to clinical trainees who identify as having their own issues with complex trauma, dissociation, and addiction. Although this training is not intended to replace appropriate clinical or medical treatment, clinical trainees will receive an extra layer of support during the training to support their own process. The training is designed for participating clinician trainees to have more freedom to discuss these personal areas of struggle as they may be coming up during the training. Dr. Jamie Marich is one of the leading voices in our field for destigmatizing mental health and addiction recovery concerns, especially among clinicians, and this training cycle offers a unique opportunity for trainees to speak freely about the interplay between their own struggles and the content that they are learning in the EMDR therapy training. Interested trainees are always free to approach us with questions before registering.

Discovered by Dr. Francine Shapiro, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is one of the most researched and utilized methods in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other forms of human distress connected to trauma. Completing our full basic training approved by the EMDR International Association is a multi-tiered process of which this three-day training is your first part. Part I Training (3 Days= 21 total hours of Lecture and Practicum): Covers the basics of trauma, the adaptive information processing model, trauma-informed stabilization, and the basic methodology and mechanisms of action used in EMDR Therapy. You will be able to practice EMDR Therapy with certain cases after completion of Part I.

*Course is only offered in-person. Attendance at all sessions, and completion of course evaluation is required to receive CE Certificate.
