I completed my undergraduate education at Kent State University in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Exercise Physiology and my graduate education at Florida State University majoring in Exercise Physiology concentrated in Sports Nutrition. During my graduate career, I worked and completed research at the FSU Institute of Sports Science and Medicine while completing a Dietetic Internship focusing on eating disorder care, sports nutrition, clinical nutrition, and food service. Shortly after graduation I joined the Monte Nido East Bay team and was then promoted to the Director of Nutrition Services for all Monte Nido & Affiliates programs in the west and mid-west region.

Dr. Johnson is a double-board certified medical doctor (pediatrics, adolescent medicine) who specializes in caring for adolescents and young adults. She was previously an academic physician and now has a private practice. Dr. Johnson provides comprehensive care with a special focus on patients who have both medical and behavioral health concerns. Dr. Johnson has expertise in treating patients with eating disorders and has given many presentations on this topic to professional and lay audiences. She was one of the first medical doctors to be certified as an Eating Disorders Specialist and is the only MD CEDS in Orange County. Dr. Johnson is also a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, and American Academy of Pediatrics.

Amanda Schlitzer Tierney is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and holds her Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Lock Haven University and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. Amanda is currently the Co-Chair of the Association for Applied Sports Psychology: Eating Disorder Special Interest Group. Amanda has been working with athletes and non-athletes with eating disorders since 2006. Over the years, Amanda gained a wide-range of knowledge for this specialized population and found her true passion: helping individuals incorporate balanced exercise into the recovery environment. Amanda’s goal as a Strength and Conditioning Coach is working with individuals to help identify unhealthy exercise thoughts and behaviors and supporting them in redefining their relationship with fitness. She aims to help her patients find a balance between challenging the body and bringing the fun back to exercise. She encourages listening to one’s body cues and adequate fueling to maintain a healthy body and mind. Amanda’s target reaches beyond the patient and she strives to educate athletes, teams, coaches, parents, athletic trainers, and sport medicine personnel on how work with this specialized population.

Fiona LaRosa-Waters is an experienced behavioral health marketing professional and community relations specialist. She has been working in the field of eating disorder treatment since 2011 and has held positions as a professional outreach representative for eating disorder and substance use facilities, a counselor in a treatment center for adult women with eating disorders, and providing coaching, outpatient case management and treatment placement services for clients struggling with addictions and eating disorders. Prior to shifting to a career in behavioral health Fiona worked in special education coordinating the administrative and operational aspects of a residence of deafblind students ages 16-22. She is passionate about helping people locate resources to support treatment and recovery, advancing education about eating disorders and addiction, and connecting with the mental health community. Fiona graduated summa cum laude from Lesley University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. She enjoys traveling, public speaking, cooking, and hiking with her dogs.

Director of Operations, Reasons Eating Disorder Center
Claire St John, MPH RD CEDRD-S, Director of Operations at Reasons Eating Disorder Center, is responsible for operations and research across all levels of care -- inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Claire brings her background in clinical nutrition care at Reasons and research experience to inform her work supporting therapists, nurses, doctors, psychiatrists and other staff to ensure that Reasons continues to be one of the best providers of eating disorder treatment.

Alyssa holds Bachelor and Master of Science Nutrition and Dietetic degrees from Loma Linda University. Alyssa is passionate about food and nutrition, mindful eating, and providing education and counseling from a non-diet, HAES perspective. Her specialties include eating disorders, disordered eating, and performance nutrition. Aside from day-to-day clinical work, Alyssa also regularly concerns herself with public speaking: presentations, webinars, and teaching. She serves as a contract professor at California State University Los Angeles. Alyssa currently has a private practice in Claremont, CA and works at Reasons Eating Disorder Center. She has extensive experience treating patients at all levels of care.

Chief Executive Officer, Center for Change
Dr. Hawkins is a clinical psychologist and is the Chief Executive Officer at Center for Change. She is a specialist in eating disorders and body image and has provided clinical expertise at Center for Change since 1999. Dr. Hawkins developed a comprehensive body image program that focuses on the media, diet industry, plastic surgery, childhood issues, and learning to appreciate one’s body, and she leads these groups for the Inpatient and Residential patients at Center for Change. She is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (Supervisor), has published several articles, and presents regularly at national and regional conferences.
