Michelle first joined Monte Nido as the Intake Coordinator of Monte Nido Laurel Hill, during which she thoroughly enjoyed welcoming new clients into treatment and beginning their journey to recovery. With extensive experience working with eating disorders and adolescents and a master’s degree from Argosy University, Michelle could not be more thrilled to become the Assistant Clinical Director and now the Clinical Director at Monte Nido Eating Disorder Center of Boston. She particularly enjoys facilitating the family support groups because it’s interesting to watch family dynamics and learn how to support parents through the recovery process. Michelle is especially interested in the relationship between athletes and eating disorders.

This presentation will outline sport specific risk factors, lean vs. non lean sports and similarities between clients with anorexia nervosa and a well-trained athlete. Presenter will provide an understanding of specific questions to ask and assessment tools to assess clinical eating disorder behaviors in athletes.
