British born Oliver Drakeford is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the West Hollywood / Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. In addition to being a Certified Group Psychotherapist, Oliver is trained in Modern Group Analysis through The Center For Group Studies in New York.
Oliver was the Clinical Director of an adolescent treatment center in Malibu for over three years where he developed a family systems focused approach to helping teens and their families connect and strengthen relationships.
Having worked in a variety of settings, including residential treatment and private practice, he has experience providing therapy to adolescents and adults individually, as well as providing family counseling and group therapy.
In addition to private practice, Oliver teaches Group Process at Antioch University in LA, and offers consultations and trainings in group and family therapy. His deep understanding of psychoanalytic theory and extensive experience has enabled him to train and lead performance-oriented therapists who thrive on collaboration, and progressive emotional communication.
Family Systems and Structural Mapping
The Family Systems and Structural Mapping course will guide clinicians through the process of creating a structural map while reviewing the core components of Structural Theory. The group will be shown a brief clip from a popular TV Show which portrays a realistic example of a dysfunctional family system. The conversational exchange in the clip will be the basis of the group creating a 'Family Map' as part of an experiential exercise.
