Community Resilience Practice for Trans Thriving

Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming children and adults face intense stigma, marginalization and violence from every direction: from strangers, family members, service providers, and the highest levels of government. Yet, many of us manage to survive and thrive anyway. How? Participants will learn about the individual-, group-, and community-level factors that impact trans thriving, and the resilience practices at each of those levels that can support it. We’ll explore our particular roles as allies, advocates and accomplices to/with/in trans communities, and develop individualized action plans to build on known resilience strategies to better support trans friends, clients and community members.
