Common OCD comorbidities: Anxiety with a chance of depression

With the help of a weather map analogy, this program will focus on comorbid conditions that commonly occur among individuals with OCD, and the ramifications for comprehensive treatment. The presentation will primarily address difficulties with recognizing co-occurring anxiety, depression, and other disorders. Additionally, comorbidity-dependent differences in treatment techniques will be discussed, as well as specific strategies to promote participation, engagement, and response. Ample time will be allotted at the end of the presentation to address audience questions.

Katie Merricks, PhD, NCC

Dr. Merricks is a licensed psychologist with extensive training in the treatment of OCD and related disorders. She earned her masters and doctoral degrees counseling and school psychology from Florida State University and completed her clinical internship at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Merricks completed training at the University of South Florida's (USF) Rothman Center for Neuropsychiatry and her post-doctoral fellowship at Rogers Behavioral Health focusing on the treatment of children and adolescent with OCD and related disorders. Dr. Merricks currently works full-time in a private practice in Clearwater, Florida. She has served on the board for OCD Central & South Florida since 2016, in the acting role of the Vice President since 2018.
Joshua Nadeau, PhD

Joshua Nadeau, PhD

Senior Clinical Director
Dr. Nadeau is a licensed clinical psychologist and Senior Clinical Director with Rogers Behavioral Health. In this role, Dr. Nadeau provides support to Rogers’ outpatient clinics located across the country. In his research and practice, Dr. Nadeau focuses on the use of cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, as well as in the adaptation of evidence-based techniques to address the unique needs of youth and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Dr. Nadeau received his doctorate in school psychology and completed his post-doctoral research fellowship in clinical psychology from USF. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on treatment of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders among children, adolescents and adults. Additionally, Dr. Nadeau is an active member of the International OCD Foundation, Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, Collaborative Family Healthcare Association, and the Association for Positive Behavioral Support.

Common OCD comorbidities: Anxiety with a chance of depression, Course #4611, is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Rogers Memorial Hospital | Rogers Behavioral Health as an individual course. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 11/15/2022 - 1/15/2024. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 Clinical continuing education credits.
National Board for Certified Counselors
Rogers Behavioral Health and OCD Central & South Florida are cosponsors of this program. This cosponsorship has been approved by NBCC. Rogers Behavioral Health is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6192. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The ACEP solely is responsible for this the program, including the awarding of NBCC credit. 1.5 instructional clock hours will be awarded.
