Battling Borderline: Understanding, Treating, and Surviving BPD

Madonna said it best -- "Borderline -- feels like I'm going to lose my mind."

Borderline Personality Disorder can be tough to treat and even tougher to live with. I recall being told in grad school that people with BPD were untreatable. "Run for the hills if you get assigned someone with that diagnosis." As health and mental health professionals, we pride ourselves on busting the stigmas that surround mental illness, yet, somewhere along the line, it was deemed appropriate to not extend that courtesy to people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Do you find yourself cringing when
...Read more a potential client suggests they have BPD?
Do you automatically reject clients or patients based on this diagnosis?
Do you struggle to work with people with BPD?

As a therapist, I was bound and determined to take on the "challenge" of specializing in the treatment of BPD. Little did I know that I would find the challenge so rewarding and not really a challenge after all. When you understand the excruciating nature of the illness and discover tools for validating the exquisite pain they experience, you find your way to effective treatment of the disorder.

Over the last 20 years, I have successfully treated hundreds of people with BPD. During this presentation, I will be sharing my tricks and tips for not just surviving these cases but thriving with them. Through understanding comes hope and through hope comes healing.
